Co-PLAN in cooperation with IHS, The Netherlands, and POLIS University are organizing for the second year running, 5 post-graduate courses on spatial planning and land management. The courses, which have been designed to cover the theoretical, strategic, and instrumental aspects of urban development, spatial planning, land management and local governance matters, aim to build capacity of the public and private sector and civil society organizations for formulating and implementing spatial plans and land management instruments in partnership. These postgraduate programs are part of a larger project, in which Co-PLAN has engaged since April 2010; the project, which is in cooperation with the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) in the Netherlands, is called “Fostering Partnerships for Equitable Cities – Capacity Building for Participatory Spatial Planning”. The project is supported by MATRA Social Transformation Program, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The first round of the postgraduate courses was successfully held during March - August 2011.
