Dear students,
We have received your proposals and most of you also have Supervisors assigned. If you have not been contacted by your Supervisor yet, please let me know.
As you know from the presentation I made in December and from the schedule I sent you, during the thesis process you are required to present the advancement of their thesis during all the presentations in the Colloquia/Critics scheduled during the year. The firs critics are scheduled for next weekend 17-19 January 2014. During the critics you are required to present in front of a commission your Draft Research Proposal (Background, Problem statement, Research question/s, research Objectives, approach and techniques, Literature Review) in a Power point presentation. By now you should have received comments from your Supervisors so you will be able to update and develop your First (outline) Research Proposal before the critics.
Please choose one of the following dates and time frames:
Friday 17th of December (afternoon) 14:00 – 17:00
Saturday 18th of December (morning) 10:00 – 13:00 or (afternoon) 14:30 – 17:00
Sunday the 19th of December (morning) 10:00 – 13:00 or (afternoon) 14:30 – 17:00

Dear Students,
Dear Students,
Thank you for the great time we had in class with the
introduction of our module. I hope we gave you enough information and
training to work on the case with your group. We also send you the information
in the transfer you received (literature, handouts, manuals and software).
Just to make sure you are clear on what is expected, I send you this
message with the main information.
We have given you an example case to start working on as a
group. As a group we have asked you to make 3 variants to redevelop the
area. You are allowed to divide tasks within the group. We have also asked
you to play different roles when assessing the different outcomes. This
means that you can work as one team when making the plans, but when you
discuss them and evaluate the outcome each of you will look at it from his or
her role (for example Shipyard representatives look at the results from their
goals, Mayor's office from their targets, etcetera).
We ask you to prepare a short 15 minute presentation in
which you quickly show the different scenario's or variants that have been
discussed and explain which scenario has the groups final preference and why!
Friday 15th of November we expect all the groups to be present at 13.00 hours
to be able to prepare the presentation together. We will be there to to assist
you. Saturday 16th the groups will present their cases and receive feedback.
Sunday you will receive your final assignment and we evaluate the outcome and
prepare an Albanian case as well as present additional GIS software
applications.
We are looking forward to see you. If you have any questions
or need help during the group work, please do not hesitate to contact us by
mail. We will also send an updated version of the software later this week, to
correct some of the translation and reporting errors we found. We will also
add specific instructions about the parking discussion.
