Energy Exhibition at the MAXXI_Rome
A beautifully curated exhibition that explores the impact of energy on architecture and the landscape, from the oil boom to renewables. A part from a thorough description of post-war Italy and the economic boom – with the “eruption” of cars and speed, the first gas and service stations, motels and motorways – seven architectural firms of international reputation were asked to explore future developments by way of visionary projects seeking a zero impact supply of energy: like the gas station inspired by a forest (Sou Fujimoto Architects - ENERGY FOREST) or the motorway that supplies energy itself throughout its length (MODUS architects, Brixen, Italy. HEADS UP HIGHWAY! Cultivating energy 2050).
