Thesis Diploma start on Saturday December 21st 2013 and Research Methods course

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2nd YEAR MASTER STUDENTS

Dear All,
Please be informed that this Saturday December 21st 2013 starting from 9.00 o’clock will be explained all the procedure of Master Thesis for the Academic year 2013-2014, and especially the steps of the draft proposal that you will have to deliver on 4th of January.

We consider YOUR PRESENCE VERY IMPORTANT because this step is the first stage of your independent thesis work and it is an essential requirement for the development of your thesis. If you are absent you will not receive the necessary information.


The notice is also for all the students that finished the second year of Master program but  have NOT start the thesis yet, so if you have NOT delivered the proposal yet, or even if you attended 1-2 critics and you have in your plans to graduate within July 2014 you must be present on Saturday at 9.00 o’clock.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 1st YEAR MASTER STUDENTS

For  the 1st master students and all students that missed “Research Methods” course from  last year*, or want to refresh the knowledge in this course, we inform you that the schedule for this weekend 20th -22nd of December 2013,  is as follows:

Friday: 14.00-17.00
Saturday: 9.00-17.00
Sunday: 9.00-17.00

* Your are kindly and strongly requested to read the course syllabus, recommended links and also to start preparing the assignment before  Friday 20th of December as it was mentioned below by professor:


Preparation by students before Friday December 20:

- At the end of this short syllabus, you find two web-links to pages on research methodology. Please visit these sites and read and study as much as possible before 20 December
- Think on the thesis work you want to do. Satrt to formulate a research question – and other topics mentioned in section 4 of this syllabus.

Diploma thesis start-December 21st 2013 for the 2nd year students


Dear all,

Please be informed that starting from the weekend December 20th -22nd  2013 you will start the thesis diploma process.

The first step will be an introduction for the thesis diploma by Prof. Peter Nientied from 9:00 AM on Saturday the 21st December, that will explain you “how to make a thesis proposal and the second part of the day Laura Pedata (Coordinator of the Master Programs) and other staff, will continue with all the choice of thesis topics, procedures of the thesis progress, questions etc.

The second step is that on 4th of January you must submit the 1st  draft proposal of the thesis.
That’s why we consider YOUR PRESENCE VERY IMPORTANT because this step is the first stage of your independent thesis work and it is an essential requirement for the development of your thesis. If you are absent you will not receive the necessary information.

Also we inform you that the same weekend(20th -22nd of December 2013) the “Research Methods” course – Part1 by Prof. Peter Nientied will be held, for the 1st year master students.
We suggest you all, even if you attended the course last year, follow it again not only to refresh the knowledge in this course but also it could be very useful and helpful, considering that on January 2014 you will start thesis development and all the thesis critics (when you present your progress in front of a commission).

ULSI exam - Saturday 14th of December



Dear all,

Please be informed that the ULSI exam course will be held on Saturday 14th of December from  11.00 to 13.00 o’clock at C1 class, 3rd floor.

As the professor explained during the class, the exam is divided in two parts:  in multiple choices closed book exam (based on the concepts/definitions) and open book exam, based on the 8 readings of the required literature, for more details also you can refer to the syllabus ULSI course.

We inform the ASD1, PAD1, HLD1, SHR1, LUD1, MMU1 Master Students, that the next course will be  “Urban Land Strategies and Instruments “ by Prof. Carlos Morales on November 15-17 2013, with the following schedule :

Friday: 13.00-17.00
Saturday : 9.00-17.00
Sunday : 9.00-17.00


Also all the students that still need to attend the course from last year are welcome to attend the course.

Dear all,

This year the course has NOT an exam, but you have to deliver a " paper" within  on

FALL SEASON SCHEDULE for Second Year Graduating Students

SCHEDULE FOR SEPTEMBER GRADUATION


DATES - 2013
DEADLINES AND EVENTS
19 August by 10.00 o’clock
Each Master candidate must have sent his draft thesis to Thesis Supervisor/Tutor via email (Cc. laura_pedata@universitetipolis.edu.al and eralda_ribaj@universitetipolis.edu.al).
23 August by 15.00 o’clock
Thesis Supervisor/Tutor must have revised and submitted via email written comments to students (Cc. laura_pedata@universitetipolis.edu.al).
30 August from by 15.00 o’clock
ALL the graduating students have to bring a digital and a printed copy of the Thesis draft that will be read and revised by the Thesis Supervisor/Tutor
30 August - 1 September
Critics Session (7)
6 – 8 September

Students will collect the revised copy with written comments from Supervisor/tutor for final improvements; the students have a week to make corrections.
6 – 8 September
Critics Session (8)
13 September by 15.00 o’clock
Thesis Final Submission. The Theses are going to be forwarded to IHS and to POLIS Tutors for reading and grading
20 September by 15.00 o’clock:
The HIS and POLIS Readers will send back the grades, comments and Evaluation forms via email to Laura Pedata and Eralda
23 September
